How to help those in need during Calgary cold snap

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A severe cold snap is making its way into Calgary this weekend and is expected to last about a week.

Alpha House Calgary and the DOAP team are asking people to help the city’s most vulnerable residents and to say something if you see something.

The severe temperature drop will be especially serious for people experiencing homelessness.

The organizations say if you see someone and feel comfortable you can talk to them and see if they are doing ok, if not, and you see someone in need of assistance you can call the DOAP team to check upon them.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi says it’s important that Calgarians reach to those in need.

“We must look out for each other as we deal with what mother nature has in store,” Nenshi said.

He also took to Twitter to tell people to save the numbers of the organizations and to share the message with others.

To contact the DOAP team, you can call 403-998-7388 and to contact the Alpha House, you can call 403-805-7388.

For more information, you can visit the Alpha House website.
