CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The Calgary Stampeders have traded quarterback Nick Arbuckle to the Ottawa Redblacks.

In return, Calgary gets a 2020 third-round pick and a conditional pick if he signs with Ottawa. Arbuckle becomes a free agent on Feb. 11.

The 26-year-old was thrust into the spotlight in Calgary last summer when Bo Levi Mitchell went down with an injury. Arbuckle went 3-3 as a starter.

“I thank Nick for everything he did for the Stampeders organization and particularly for the way he performed during Bo’s absence last season,” Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel said.

The team also released defensive back Tre Roberson in order to allow him to pursue an opportunity in the NFL.
