One man dead after shooting in Rundle

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – One man has died following a shooting in the city’s northeast early Monday morning.

Police said it happened around 3:45 a.m. when officers got word of gunshots on Rundlemere Road NE.

Two men were taken to hospital in critical condition, one has since died.

The victims were dropped off by a man driving a white 2018 Ford Fusion with Alberta plate CFB-8504.

Police would like to speak to the driver and are looking for anyone who may have information about his identity.

Sherri Dahl has lived in the neighbourhood for 30 years and says it’s disturbing to see the police presence on her street.

“To hear that we’ve had people shot and sent to the hospital is a little disturbing, to say the least. I’m a little shocked, I’m a little concerned because we do have a lot of children that live in this area and we have an elementary school just down the block but thankfully, everyone is out of school right now.”

Dahl goes on to say in the last 10 years gun violence has been a concern for her and other neighbours.

“I have a 19-year-old daughter, I’m a little nervous to let her walk by herself, in a neighbourhood she grew up in. When things start to go that direction, you start to wonder what’s happening with society.”

Police believe the shooting targeted and at this time there’s nothing to indicate it’s connected to a shooting on Boxing Day.

An autopsy is expected early this week. Details about the victim will not be released until family members are notified.
