One man dead after house fire in southwest Calgary

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — One man is dead after a house fire in southwest Calgary.

Fire crews were called to a home on Kelwood Place SW at around 11 p.m. Friday when neighbours noticed smoke and flames coming from a home on the street.

Upon arrival, crews took on the fire from the backside of the single-story home and then worked to douse the flames from the inside.

While fighting the flames, crews found one man and worked to resuscitate him before handing him off to AHS to be transported to hospital where he later died from his injuries.

It is unclear if there were other people inside the home at the time of the fire, or if neighbouring homes were evacuated.

Calgary fire was called out of the house after the main floor of the home collapsed, forcing crews to fight the flames from the outside.
