AHS confirms 3 flu deaths in Alberta this year

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Alberta Health Services has confirmed that three people have died from the flu so far in 2019.

In its latest numbers released on Thursday, it says one of those people was from the Calgary zone.

The two others are from the Edmonton and North zones.

Over 1,000 people have been diagnosed with either influenza A or B, nearly 500 of which are from the Calgary zone.

So far over one million doses of vaccine have been administered this season.

In 2018, there were 1,976 hospitalizations and 52 deaths among people with lab-confirmed influenza.
