CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgarians are digging into their pockets and donating to an online fundraiser for the organization Skipping Stone.

The group, which acts as a service provider for trans and gender diverse youth, announced Tuesday it would no longer be accepting new clients due to a lack of funding.

In a statement, Skipping Stone said it was working on a solution and talking to different funders to try to find a way to keep accepting new clients.

The fundraiser has a goal of $10,000 and saw over half of that goal donated to the cause within the first 24 hours. And it didn’t take long for the fundraiser to completely surpass its initial goal.

Skipping Stone said on Twitter that thanks to the outpouring of financial support, it’s been able to take a few clients off the waiting list.
