Knife scare at safe consumption site prompts large police presence

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A knife scare in downtown Calgary prompted a large police presence at a safe consumption site Monday morning.

Several police cruisers raced down 5 Street SW around 10:30 a.m. responding to reports someone with a knife locked themselves in a washroom at the Sheldon Chumir Health Centre.

Police said there is no risk to the public, but didn’t have many other details to share Monday afternoon.

The supervised consumption site has been temporarily closed until Tuesday.
