CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary Flames 2019 first-round pick Jakob Pelletier will have the opportunity to represent Canada at the upcoming 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The forward is one of 31 players named to the Canadian selection camp, which will compete for final team roster spots from Dec. 9-12 in Oakville, Ont.

Pelletier is having an outstanding 2019-20 campaign for the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL, netting 48 points in 25 games.

He was selected 26th overall by the Flames earlier this year.

Pelletier was part of Canada’s U-18 team at the 2018-19 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup.

The tournament kicks off Boxing Day when Canada takes on the United States from the Czech Republic. Canada last won gold in 2018.
