Traffic stop leads to drug bust, weapons seizure

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgary police have laid a handful of charges against a man after a traffic stop revealed a bevy of weapons and drugs.

Last Monday officers spotted a Chevrolet Blazer registered to a driver with an expired license in the area of 26 Avenue and 36 Street SE. The officers pulled the car over and took the driver and his passenger into custody.

After searching the vehicle and the men in the car they found meth, fentanyl, bear spray, a homemade handgun, a pellet gun, ammunition, and a bag with a mask, gloves, tape, pliers, and zip ties, among other things.

Nemes is facing 11 firearms and drug charges, including carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with an outstanding warrant and two breach offenses.
