Police lay 155 charges in armed carjacking investigation

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Six people are facing over 150 charges in connection with an armed carjacking in the Calgary area.

It follows an investigation after police responded to a collision on Harvest Oak Rise NE on Oct. 21. Police say the Audi S4 involved in the crash was stolen and afterwards the suspect fled with another man in a Mercedes believed to be stolen during an armed carjacking in Airdrie the day before.

On Oct. 25, police arrested five suspects outside a house by Macleod Trail and TWP Rd. 220 near De Winton.

A sixth suspect was arrested later that day.

Police now say the group is linked to 18 stolen vehicles from the Calgary area many taken when they were left running unattended or through garage break-and-enters.

Fourteen of the vehicles have been recovered and police say they are worth $250,000.

Justin Michael Ward, 28, Kage Ragaisis, 20, Kelton Lee Travis, 19, Evelyn Sadie Clare, 18, Casey Alan Cousins, 26, Jesse Strongeagle, 24, all face charges relating to stolen property, weapons, driving offences and failing to attend court.

Ragaisis is also facing 5 charges in the Airdrie carjacking, including robbery with a firearm.
