Calgary best city to drive in the world: study

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Despite complaints about long commutes, a new survey says Calgary is the best driving city in the world.

The report done for Mister Auto, a European auto parts retailer, looked at several factors including infrastructure, fatal crashes and road rage incidents.

Affordability of gas, parking and road taxes was also analyzed.

The city got the best marks for the speed at which our traffic moves.

Calgary wasn’t the only Canadian city to finish high on the list. Ottawa ranked third while Vancouver placed sixth. Toronto, however, fell way back to 51st on the list.

The worst places to drive, according to the report were Mumbai, India and Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, where road rage is a big problem.

When it comes to road rage, Osaka and Tokyo, Japan topped the list for the least amount of incidents.

The report also looked at where cities ranked in terms of affordable parking. Singapore ranked number one while Sydney, Australia had the most expensive parking at $39.25 USD for two hours.

Gas prices were also taken into account with Oslo, Norway having the most expensive price per litre at $1.91 USD and Lagos, Nigeria has the least expensive gas at 40 cents per litre.
