Better Business Bureau caution military families of scammers

CANADA (NEWS 1130) – As we approach Remembrance Day, the Better Business Bureau is raising awareness about scammers targeting those who serve our country.

The Better Business Bureau finds military families are more likely than civilians to fall prey to scammers.

Shawna Kay-Thomas says fraudsters often intentionally target men and women in uniform.

“Military families are moving more than civilians are and scammers are aware of this and so they are targeting those who are moving and those who need to get things done and need to get done more quickly.”

Thomas says employment and home improvement scams are among the most prevalent threats and in some cases after a move military families who search for employment are enticed with work from home schemes.
