Calgary leads the province for cases of flu

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Flu season is well underway in Alberta, and Calgary seems to be the hotbed for the virus.

Alberta Health Services reports 70 lab-confirmed cases of the flu in the Calgary zone so far this season, the highest of any region in the province.

The Edmonton zone is second on the list with 40 cases 42 have been hospitalized across the province with severe symptoms.

Since the immunization program began last month, more than 700,000 people have received their flu shot.

Last season over 1.3 million people were immunized.
