New movie wraps filming in Alberta

CALGARY (660NEWS) — Filming has wrapped on a new movie being shot in southern Alberta.

Thousand Year Films is teaming up with the larger Los Angeles Film Company for the production.

Calgary filmmaker Aleisha Anderson says Father of Nations is an epic journey film set in a post-apocalyptic world.

“So it really is a film that looks at the sanctity of life and hope. It’s very beautiful, but we’ve positioned it in this landscape where everything has been stripped away from society,” said Anderson.

One of the places they filmed was near Hilda, northeast of Medicine Hat.
“We had started shooting there, and there were some devastating wildfires that went through. That was really tough on the community, but they encouraged us to still film there and had said ‘if you want post-apocalyptic’, we have that for you now.'”

The film stars Nathan Horch and Kyra McPherson.

Anderson says Father of Nations is targeted to hit theatres next fall in Alberta, and then it’s on to the streaming services and a tour of the film festivals.
