RCMP investigate after BB gun found in Chestermere school

CHESTERMERE (660 NEWS) – RCMP are investigating a weapon complaint at a school in Chestermere.

Staff at Chestermere Lake Middle School received reports a student was carrying a handgun style airsoft BB gun on Oct. 18.

Police were notified and later found the airsoft gun hidden in an outdoor trash can. The student was taken into custody.

RCMP said there was no danger posed to students or staff at the time and the student reportedly brought the gun to school for social status.

The student has been released and will appear in court on a charge of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief.
