CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary police have apprehended the driver of a truck that rammed an RCMP vehicle Thursday in Airdrie.

At around 5 p.m., Mounties were in the No Frills parking lot in Airdrie on an unrelated matter when one of their vehicles was intentionally hit by a Burgundy Ford F-250 pick-up.

The suspect vehicle then fled Airdrie and headed south into Calgary.

Police say they tracked the vehicle to the community of Bridgeland with the help of the HAWCS helicopter, where the suspect ditched the car for a bike.

The 39-year-old man was arrested a short time later with the help of the K-9 unit.
