Damaged sprinkler head soaks Airdrie motel

AIRDRIE (660 NEWS) — It was a wet and loud wake-up call for some guests at a Motel 6 in Airdrie on Tuesday morning.

The alarms started ringing around 6:20 a.m. after water started pouring from a damaged sprinkler head in a room on the top floor of the motel, located on 133 Gateway Dr NE.

The water started pooling in the hallway and was leaking to the floors below.

Firefighters shut down power after water was found in numerous ceiling light fixtures.

Some guests were relocated to other rooms.

No one was injured.

The cause of the damage to the sprinkler system is under investigation.
