CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Alberta’s former Premier and the leader of the Provincial New Democrat Party (NDP) visited Calgary Friday.
Rachel Notley held a budget town hall, calling out Jason Kenney’s United Conservative Party (UCP) government, and answered some questions about her stance on the Federal NDP Party.
She was quoted as saying she may not vote for the NDP this election, but she has since explained that it was a misquote.
“Let me be very clear, the headline that is running (Friday) doesn’t accurately reflect what I said,” and she further explained what she was trying to say. “(Federal NDP Leader) Jagmeet Singh and (Alberta’s Premier) Jason Kenney are both wrong when they argue that you must pit the economic security of the pipeline against the very clear need to combat climate change.”
“I said very clearly, I disagree with (@jkenney) and (@theJagmeetSingh),” Notley said. “(They) are both wrong when they argue you must pit the economic security of the pipeline against the very clear need to combat climate change.” #yyc #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli @660NEWS

When I asked @RachelNotley if she’s followed up with @theJagmeetSingh because she disagrees with the federal leader of the @NDP party, she references her previous statement, “My statement is what I just told you, thank you.” #yyc #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli @660NEWS

Notley would not pledge her vote to the NDP or any other party ahead of the vote on October 21.
“What I will be doing is looking at my own candidate, in my own riding and making a choice on that basis and that’s all I have to say on the matter because most provincial leaders do not weigh in,” she stated. “(Saskatchewan Premier) Scott Moe has made it clear he is not going to endorse anybody.”
However, that’s not stopping Kenney from campaigning for Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer during a visit to Ontario.
