Man charged for carrying machete, knife outside Lethbridge supervised consumption site

Several people were also hit by paintballs outside the Lethbridge supervised consumption site in August

LETHBRIDGE (660 NEWS) — A man from Standoff has been charged with two counts of possessing weapons outside the Lethbridge supervised consumption site.

In the morning of Sept. 17, Lethbridge police were called after several men were spotted outside the SCS passing around a machete.

When police arrived they discovered a 37-year-old man with a machete stuffed inside his pants along with a second knife. The man was arrested

Shane Garrett Williams is being held in custody on two counts of possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, breaching probation and possessing methamphetamine.

In August, the Lethbridge supervised consumption site also experienced a drive-by paintball shooting and one man was charged after he injured several people including staff.

Earlier in September another man was shot and injured outside an overdose prevention site in Red Deer.
