CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Police have charged a second man in a shooting that occurred earlier this summer.
Officers responded to the shooting on July 31, 2019, in a parking lot on 64 street NE.
The suspects fled the parking lot once police arrived and no one was injured.
“This shooting happened in a busy public area and our investigators were committed to ensuring that anyone involved was held accountable,” said Staff Sgt. Greg Cooper of the CPS Guns & Gangs Unit.
After reviewing surveillance footage, one suspect, Ahmed Rakka was arrested on Aug. 3.
Last Thursday, a second suspect was taken into custody after police searched a house on 44 Ave. NE.
Alemayehu Aman, 22, of Calgary is now charged with five firearms offences including possession of an unlicensed weapon, possessing a prohibited weapon and firing a weapon with intent.
Aman will appear in court on Wednesday.
