Handguns, $560k in drugs and cash seized in Edmonton bust

EDMONTON – Two people have been arrested and are facing dozens of charges after Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) searched two Edmonton homes.

ALERT Edmonton’s organized crime and gang team searched two homes, one in the Hamptons and one in Crystallina Nera communities in mid-July as a part of a short-term drug trafficking investigation.

A trio of stolen handguns–two of which were loaded–a suppressor, and a bevy of drugs and cash. The guns seized, which were previously reported stolen in Mayerthorpe, Strathcona County, and Grande Prairie, will be tested to see if they were involved in any other crimes.

The drugs seized have an estimated street value of over $400,000 and include:

  • 2.4 kilograms of cocaine
  • 25 kilograms of a cocaine buffing agent
  • 1 kilogram of methamphetamine
  • 305 grams of MDMA
  • 4 kilograms of dried cannabis, along with cannabis resin, oils, and edibles
  • over 350 assorted packages of illicit steroids

 

Over $166,000 in cash, which police believe were proceeds of crime, was also seized.

Cody Hilton, 32, and Connie Liu, 53, have been charged with a total of 40 offenses, including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis for the distribution, possession of property obtained by crime, plus several firearms-related charges.
