CALGARY (660 NEWS) – As a result of budget cuts and other factors, one of Calgary’s oldest fitness centres will bite the dust in 2020.
The Beltline Aquatic and Fitness Centre, located at 2nd Street and 12th Avenue S.W., will officially close its doors on January 1st, 2020.
The City of Calgary says this is a result of recent budget cuts, age of the facility, and declining participation.
There will be no changes to operating hours at the facility in the meantime, and all programming scheduled for the fall will continue.
The centre includes a weight room, pool, gymnasium, multipurpose studio and a climbing wall.
First opened in 1954, the centre received numerous upgrades over the years — including most recently in 2018.
