Council proceeds with Green Line with some revisions

City council gives the transit project the go ahead however, the core route is still under review.

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – City council will not be hitting pause on the Green-Line LRT.

This follows an 11-point motion from Ward 12 Councillor Shane Keating, addressing concerns surrounding construction of the line in the downtown core, as well as the south and north legs being approved by council on Monday night.

By far the biggest concerns included how the line was going to pass through the downtown core.

After the motion was approved, Ward 8 Councillor Evan Woolley withdrew a motion he had put forward asking for a delay in the project over budget and construction concerns.

The city hopes to start construction on the south-east portion of the Green Line by 2021.
