Woman charged in downtown stabbing attack of teen

 

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A Calgary woman has been charged after what appears to be a random attack on a teenager downtown.

29-year-old Chantel Nicole Blackface is being charged with aggravated assault and breach of probation after stabbing a 17-year-old-girl on Tuesday, July 16.

According to a release from CPS, a group of five people confronted the girl, which led to the stabbing.

Witnesses quickly jumped to the teen’s aid and called 9-1-1.

“Based on thorough descriptions by witnesses, officers were able to quickly locate a suspect nearby. The suspect was arrested without further incident,” according to the release from police.

The teen was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Blackface is due in a Calgary court Monday, July 22.

Police have stated they believe the incident to be random in nature.
