Calgary’s Foothills WFC hosting national championship

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — For the first time, the United Women’s Soccer Championship is coming north of the border.

It also means Calgary’s Foothills WFC will have the opportunity to win its first national title at home this weekend. The squad was the first team to qualify for the tournament by capturing the West Conference crown, finishing the regular season with a record of 6-1-1.

Joining them will be the Lancaster Inferno from Pennsylvania, LA Galaxy OC and Indiana Union. The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, while the final will be played Sunday afternoon.

All of the matches are slated for Mount Royal University, home of Foothills WFC.

This is the second straight trip to the UWS final four for Foothills WFC.
