CALGARY (660 NEWS) – One of the key figures working on Calgary’s Green Line LRT project has resigned.
Deputy Director Fabiola MacIntyre announced her resignation in an email Tuesday afternoon.
Despite the announcement, Ward 3 Councillor Jyoti Gondek said she isn’t worried that this will affect the project.
“Fabiola contributed a great deal to this project over time, she was a very valued member of the team and she contributed quite a bit, and moving forward I think those contributions will come in in a very valuable manner, she has been great mentor to a lot of people and those people are still on the team, so we will continue to move forward,” said Gondek.
The one aspect about the project that continues to worry Gondek is the talk of pausing the downtown phase over concerns about a tunnel under the Bow River, as she feels it could result in losing funding.
“In my opinion absolutely, we had a provincial government commit funds and that government is no longer in power, so we have a new government that’s considering where they can achieve savings and we’ve got a federal election coming up. Absolutely I think the funding would be in jeopardy if we make it look like we can’t make a decision.”
There has been no explanation on why MacIntyre quit. A new managing director for the project was hired earlier this year.
