CALGARY (660 NEWS)- It’s a big part of western culture and something that’s on your feet during the Calgary Stampede.
Cowboy boots are somewhere between folk art, pop culture, and functional clothing but you don’t need to be from the wild west just to wear them.
So what makes a good pair of cowboy boots?
According to Ben Gerwing at Alberta Boot Company, it’s the leather.
“Every single boot is entirely leather with the exception of the thread that’s holding it together. All the lining is full cowhide lining, all the heel counters are all leather.”
Gerwing said that many people will go through life without ever having tried a cowboy boot on.
When it comes to how you should pick a good pair, Gerwing said it’s all about finding the pair that speaks to you.
He also said you should watch your toes and check your heels when buying a pair as cowboy boots come with pointed, square, and rounded toes. Some designers also like to play with the heel height, so watch out so you don’t get something that’s too tall or too short.
