CALGARY (660 NEWS) – One of the most prestigious Stampede pancake breakfasts had its last ‘yahoo’ on Sunday.
The invite-only Hays Breakfast at Heritage Park started by Senator Harry Hays in 1950 saw its last flipped pancake as the Hays family has decided this would be the event’s last year.
“The event grew to be more than just a gathering of people having breakfast and cocktails in the morning to a pretty major event,” said, CEO of Heritage Park, Alida Visbach.

Visbach says that every story needs to find an end and this way the end is a happy one, as the family made this decision with Dan Hayes being in his 80’s.
“Everyone is getting older, and the demographic of those who attend are getting older, and it was something we knew would end eventually.”
Dignitaries on hand included Premier Jason Kenney and Mayor Nenshi along with Stampede royalty.
