Stolen test drive vehicles lead to arrests of six people

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Six people have been arrested and charged following the theft of vehicles during a test drive.

Police say the incident happened last Wednesday when a woman went to look at a car for sale in the Copperfield neighbourhood.

The woman found the Toyota 4Runner through an online classifieds site.

The owner of the vehicle took the test drive along with the woman when he noticed a Honda CR-V following them.

The woman drove the vehicle outside of the city on Township Road 240 and pulled over near Rainbow Road, where she demanded the owner exit the vehicle.

The vehicle owner eventually left the and the 4Runner and the CR-V fled the area leaving the victim on the side of the road.

Police found both vehicles near an apartment on 15 Avenue S.E. where two men and a woman were arrested. The woman who drove the 4Runner along with two other men were arrested without incident.

Police say the CR-V was also stolen from during a private-sale test drive that happened in Edgemont on May 21, 2019.

Officers also seized 40 grams of methamphetamine, 2 grams of fentanyl, ammunition and stolen identity documents

The six suspects are now facing numerous charges including robbery and possession of stolen property over $5000.
