Calgary and Southern Alberta under frost advisory

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Just when you thought it was safe to put out the patio furniture, set up your garden and start mowing your lawn, winter has provided Calgary with one last taste of cold.

Environment Canada has issued another frost advisory for most of southern Alberta including Calgary. Clearing skies and a cool airmass will cause temperatures to dip to near or slightly below zero.

“This is not terribly unusual, anyone from the Calgary area who has gone camping in the Foothills over the last number of decades knows that May long weekend can bring anything from heavy wet snow to scorching hot temperatures,” said Blaine Lowry, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.

If you’ve already picked up some outdoor plants you’re going to want to cover them up or move them indoors.

The advisory is expected to remain in place until Monday morning.
