Police: Alaska man thought station rape was ‘adventurous’

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Authorities say an Alaska man told officers he thought it would be “adventurous” to rape an incapacitated woman in a police station.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported Tuesday that 25-year-old Devan Thomas Gage was arrested Monday at the Fairbanks Police Station.

Police say an emergency dispatcher saw the assault in the station vestibule through security cameras and alerted officers in the building.

Authorities say the video footage shows Gage and the woman entering the vestibule at 4 a.m. and appearing to fall asleep on a bench before Gage got up and forced himself on the woman while she was unconscious.

The woman was treated at a hospital.

Gage is being represented by the public defender’s agency, which did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press seeking comment.
