FAA awards airport grants for Reno, Hawthorne

RENO, Nev. — U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao has announced a $10 million infrastructure grant to help repave a runway at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

The money is part of $779 million in federal grants the Federal Aviation Administration plans to award to 127 airports in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

Hawthorne Industrial airport in rural Mineral County also will receive a $2.7 million grant for taxiway improvements.

Chao said Wednesday the money will help pay for construction or equipment to increase airport safety, capacity and security.
