CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Two men convicted in the 2013 murder of Lukas Strasser-Hird have lost an appeal.

Franz Cabrera and Assmar Shlah filed an appeal last year after they were convicted of second-degree murder in 2016.

They’re were hoping for a new trial, but in a split decision from the Alberta Court of Appeal, that request was denied.

Their lawyer is hoping to now take this case to the Supreme Court of Canada.

Last week, Nathan Gervais was convicted of first-degree murder in the killing, which happened outside a Beltline nightclub.

Joch Pouk was convicted of manslaughter and is now out on parole.
