Wildlife organization prepares for influx of babies

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — A local organization has been prepping for their busy season as more baby wildlife are born.
The Alberta Institute of Wildlife Conservation helps rehabilitate baby animals that are left orphaned or injured.
“We see babies in stages too, so the first to come are the baby hares, then are the goslings, we got our first gosling admitted a couple days ago,” said Holly Lillie, executive director, Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation. “Then we see the ducklings, the deer fawns, the skunks and the baby birds.”
Lillie adds that on May 1st they had about 13 baby hares admitted.
The organization could take in 1000 animals from now through the summer and the cost to rehabilitate ranges from $100 to well over $1000.
The non-profit is holding their 8th annual Wildlife Baby Shower, they’ll be collecting donations for the month of May to raise much-needed funds for the influx of patients they’ll see.
