Outlaw bikers charged following ALERT investigation

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — RCMP in central Alberta say they have busted a biker gang they claim was carrying out low-level dirty work for the Hells Angels.

The bust is the culmination of a two-year investigation by ALERT, called Project Rocker.

Three people, who are allegedly part of the Syndicate Outlaw motorcycle club, have been charged after police searched three homes in Red Deer and turned up an estimated $350,000 worth of drugs. Weapons and bikes were also seized.

Items seized include:

-3 kilograms of cocaine

-9 kilograms of a cocaine buffing agent

-2.8 kilograms of cannabis

-a handgun

-an SKS rifle

-4 vehicles

-$78,794 cash proceeds of crime.

Casey Chapin, 33, Joel Befus, 32, and Bailey Chapin, 29, have all been charged with multiple drugs and weapons-related charges.

Both Casey and Bailey Chapin were released on bail after their initial court appearances. Befus was also released on bail with numerous conditions.
