Calgary hosting viewing party for Game 3 of playoffs

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Game 3 in the Calgary Flames Stanley Cup playoff series is in Denver but there will still be a big party in Calgary on Monday.

The City of Calgary is hosting a family friendly event for Game 3 at Olympic Plaza which features a big screen to watch the game, family activities, prizes and a fire pit.

Teresa Byrne with the city is hoping for a huge turnout.

“We’ve been keeping an eye on our Facebook page and as of Friday, there were 400 people coming and over 33,000 views so we’re hoping to see that grows. Of course, there’s room for thousands down at Olympic Plaza and the more the merrier,” said Byrne.

Byrne says if you are heading to the event, it’s best to plan ahead.

“There’s some parking in that area. Calgary Transit lets off right there, that’s always the best way to get around. While you’re down, there’ll also be some road closures in the area so people should check calgary.ca/playoffs for all the updated information.”

The event starts at 7:00 p.m. with the game starting at 8:00 p.m.

Alcohol and smoking are prohibited at the viewing party.
