One arrested after vehicles set on fire in Edmonton

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) — Charges are pending against a man who allegedly lit a number of vehicles on fire in Edmonton.

Around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, police received reports of a man pouring fuel on vehicles and setting them on fire in the area of 104 St. and 83 Ave.

“We could see on the street that there were, like the car over there had its wheels on fire. There was a guy walking down the street he had a gas can and he’s just like spraying cars and yeah it was pretty scary,” said Sky Johnson, who works at a nearby cafe.

Ross Lockwood filmed the incident.

“As soon as he dropped the jerry can you can see a big shift in the mentality of the whole crowd. Everyone went from guarded to action mode.”

In the video you can see a group of men restrained the suspect until police arrived.

Police say 13 vehicles were reportedly damaged and there are no injuries are this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
