The mid-April snowstorm didn’t dampen the postgame party as hundreds of fans spilled onto 17 Ave after the game.
Chants of “Go Flames Go” echoed along the avenue throughout the celebration.
Police said the crowd was well-behaved and other than a three-vehicle collision at 17 Ave and 4 St SW, there were no major incidents.

“The boys played hard and came away with a nice shutout,” said this fan. “There’s not much more you can ask for, really.”
Flames goaltender Mike Smith was the game’s first star after turning aside all 26 shots he faced.
Fans have had a love-hate relationship with Smith, who struggled earlier in the season.
“Mike Smith stole the show and the Flames kicked butt,” said one fan along 17 Ave SW after the game.
And others think the win will be the first of many for the team this spring.
“Why not? The Flames haven’t been this good since ’89,” this fan said.
The win gives the Flames a 1-0 series lead with Game 2 set to go Saturday night at the Dome.
