CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Another member of the Alberta Party has had their election sign defaced.
This is the third candidate in Calgary that has had their sign vandalized since the election was called on Mar. 19.
Gar Gar is running in the riding of Calgary-East, he says his sign was spray painted with the words “vote for you future” with his name crossed out.
(1/3) Concerning last nights vandalism,
I can’t say their true intentions, but, if it was to inspire fear or hatred, it has no place in our democratic system. My campaign has always been about optimism and the Alberta Opportunity, and no one said it was going to be easy. pic.twitter.com/kdWIeoNSdq

He says he’s unsure if the message was to inspire hate but it has made him more determined.
“The more important things is the conversations that we have with people, that’s the conversations that come down. Hatred has no place in our society, fear has no place in our society.”
A nearby bus shelter was also spray painted with “vote for your children’s future”.
“Thank you to the people, afterwards we started seeing some people asking for private lawn signs and it shows that there are some residents there that there are more concerned in the community than ever. For this reason, it will keep me going more and more,” said Gar.
Party leader Stephen Mandel tweeted out his support for Gar, saying they have his back.
Glad to see @GarGar4YYCEast respond to hate with such uplifting words. We’re here for you, Gar
The election is April 16.
