Calgary one of the most livable cities

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary has been ranked as one of the most livable cities in the world.

According to Mercer Canada’s annual “Quality of Living Survey“, Calgary is ranked 32nd.

The survey measures a number of aspects such as recreation, housing and the environment.

“Calgary does really, really well across the board on almost all the aspects of the ranking. Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa all rank a little bit lower because of the winter or harsh climate, which isn’t quite as temperate as Vancouver,” said Gordon Frost, a partner with Mercer. “On all of the other aspects especially compared to US cities, Calgary ranks ahead of all the US cities as do all the Canadian cities.”

Vancouver is ranked third, followed by Toronto in 16th, Ottawa in 19th and Montreal in 21st.

“All of the Canadian city’s have been relatively stable, they’ve moved up maybe a point or two but the difference between one point and another are not that big. But Canada continues to do well really across all the elements,” said Frost.

Vancouver is the only North American city that sits in the top 10.
