Councillors may finally be ‘Working Together’

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It has been put off twice already but on Monday, City Councillors may finally go through a workshop designed to help them get along.

The ‘Working Together’ workshop didn’t happen the previous two times because too many councillors said they were too busy to attend.

Ward 4 Councillor Sean Chu said he’ll be at the workshop on Monday but doesn’t really see the point.

“Let’s play nice together like ‘Kumbaya.’ Do we really need to? I guess time will tell, maybe I’ll change my mind but right at this moment, I think it’s unnecessary.”

Councillor Jeff Davison said that a seminar like this is good to have because city politics can be difficult to manage.

“Yes, we’re focused on the same outcome of all achieving greatness for the shareholder. In our case, the 1.3 million people that live in our city but the path to how you get there is sometimes different than what you would see in the private sector.”

Despite his hesitations, Chu said he plans to attend.

“I have no idea who is not, who is (to attend). I just know that I will be there. As per the Municipal Government Act, every councillor will have to attend all council meetings except if you have good reason not to.”
