Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle in city’s south

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A man has died after being hit by a vehicle on southbound Macleod Trail at Southland Drive S.E., according to EMS.
Police believe the man had been panhandling when he was hit by a Sedan.
It happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday. EMS say the man was in his 40’s and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators suspect the man was also under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident and was crossing when the vehicle had a green light.
Police confirmed the driver stayed at the scene.
The southbound lanes on Macleod were shut down for some time. The road has since been reopened
