AHS: Potential tuberculosis exposure in Calgary Zone

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Dozens of Calgarians have been warned they may have been exposed to tuberculosis.

Alberta Health Services has notified 53 people at a school in the Calgary Zone where there was a confirmed case.

Letters sent by AHS over the next couple of days will include how to assess for the infection, along with details for screening and treatment.

It is unlikely these people were actually infected, and there is low risk to other people in the school or to the general public.

AHS will not be giving any further details or name the school where the exposure happened.

Tuberculosis infection occurs when TB germs are inhaled into the lungs.
