Council to discuss NHL arena

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – City Councillors will go behind closed doors Tuesday to discuss the terms of a possible new events centre and home for the Calgary Flames.

Councillor Jeromy Farkas said the arena would cost about $600 million, not including the value of the land, just north of the Saddledome, or the bill for whatever is done to the Saddledome in the future.

Councillor Jeff Davison said money has been found in the current budget, and taxes would not be impacted by the current plan being looked at.

If approved, the city would have an outline to follow in negotiations with the Flames.
