Hundreds of tickets issued after parking ban begins

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Despite warning Calgarians late last week about a snow route parking ban, many tickets were handed out in the first few hours of it coming into effect.

The ban began at noon Monday so plows could easily access secondary routes in the city.

Chris McGeachy with Calgary Roads said parking authority officers were busy soon after.

“There were 376 tickets handed out by 3:30 p.m. yesterday. That number will likely be higher.”

According to different reports, that number is much higher, over 1,000 tickets so far.

The ban is expected to stay in place until Thursday afternoon and covers roads where blue and white snowflake signs are posted.
