Police investigate violent robbery in Maple Ridge

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary police are investigating a violent robbery and break and enter in the southeast community of Maple Ridge.

Around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, a woman had just arrived home on Maplecreek Drive S.E. near Southland Drive, when she was blocked in her driveway by a white GMC pickup truck.

Three men got out of the truck and proceeded to assault the woman and use the keys from her vehicle to gain access to her home.

One man remained in the vehicle with the woman, while the two others went through the home stealing electronics and money.

Following the home robbery, the men stole the woman’s vehicle, a green 2000 Nissan Pathfinder, and fled.

The woman then contacted police and was treated for minor injuries.

Later that morning, around 8:30 a.m. police responded to reports of a vehicle driving erratically near Memorial Drive and 28 St. N.E.

Officers followed the vehicle until it collided with a concrete barrier on the Reconciliation Bridge, where a woman in her 20s was arrested

Charges are pending against the woman in custody, however, police do not believe she was involved in the violent robbery. Investigators also do not believe that the robbery was random.

Police are asking anyone with information on the robbery to contact crime stoppers.
