EDMONTON (660 NEWS) — An 18-year-old man has been charged for uttering threats after a United Conservative Party staff member received a violent email.

Edmonton Police say on Feb. 7 they were made aware of the threatening message and due to the specific nature of the email, they arrested Abdul Anas Habash without incident.

Officers later searched a home in Edmonton and they were able to determine there was no risk to public safety.

The EPS is stressing the importance of community, tolerance and respectful dialogue and that all allegations of threats, hate crimes or hate-motivated crimes reported to police will be investigated.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers.
