‘Once in a lifetime opportunity’: Calgary teen headed to the Grammys

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It’s probably not a stretch to say, Jayden Chaban, 15, is one of the most excited teenagers in Calgary right now.

Jayden, who has spinal muscular atrophy, will fly on Wednesday with her mom Colleen to Los Angeles to attend the Grammy Awards, thanks to the Southern Alberta Make a Wish foundation.

It was Jayden’s wish to attend the gala.

“I couldn’t decide between a couple music artists I wanted to meet so I wanted to do something where I’d have an opportunity to meet a lot of them, and I love music and I just thought it would be the most bang for my buck.”

While much of the trip will be a surprise, Jayden was told they will spend time at Universal Studios while taking in the sights and warm weather of L.A.

Jayden’s mom Colleen explained how much the trip mean to her daughter.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that we’re getting to go. We’re very, very grateful and I just hope she can take it all in, just be really present and enjoy it. It means a lot to our family.”

Among the music stars that Jayden hopes to meet are Lady Gaga and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, a favourite band of her parents.
