Calgary Hitmen open Corral Series

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The Calgary Hitmen will be wearing Centennials jerseys when they take the ice Friday night as part of the club’s Corral Series.

The Centennials former line of Danny Gare, Mike Rogers and Jerry Holland will be on hand in the old barn to take part in a ceremonial opening face-off.

“It’s old-time hockey in a building that’s meant so much to our city,” explained the voice of the Hitmen, Brad Curle. “You think when the Corral opened in 1950, and the events that its had in there, from dog shows to Star Trek movies, to concerts, to curling, to the Calgary Flames moving from Atlanta and playing a few seasons there.”

The club will also be honouring the history of the Calgary Wranglers and Calgary Cowboys with games on Feb. 6 and Feb. 8.

With under two-dozen games to go in the regular season, the Hitmen have a five-point edge for the final Eastern Conference Wildcard spot.

Puck drop versus the Brandon Wheat Kings is 7 p.m. on Sportsnet.ca/960.
