Calgary Hitmen take down Prince George

Calgary, AB (660 NEWS) – The Calgary Hitmen tied a season-high with 49 shots on goal en route to a 4-1 win over the Prince George Cougars Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Luke Coleman, James Malm, Mark Kastelic and Cael Zimmerman, into an empty net, all scored for Calgary which trailed 1-0 after the first period but led 2-1 through 40 minutes.

The Kastelic marker was his team-leading 30th of the season.

Dakota Krebs was the only Hitmen to record multiple points picking up a pair of assists.

Calgary product Tyson Upper tallied the lone goal for Prince George to open the scoring.

The two teams combined for 85 shots on goal with both goaltenders turning in strong performances.

Taylor Gauthier made 45 saves for the Cougars while Jack McNaughton turned aside 35 shots for Calgary.

The victory moves the Hitmen four points ahead of the Brandon Wheat Kings for the final Eastern Conference Wildcard spot.

The win also snapped a three game losing skid for the Hitmen, while Prince George have now lost five straight.

Calgary will now get set to wrap up their three-game homestand on Sunday when they take on the Kootenay ICE, before hitting the road Tuesday to battle Regina.
